Basic Page Navigation and Site Functions

Home Page

From the Home Page you can browse the Classified Ads, Property Ads and Business Directory Ads. No login is required to view the ads. Simply click the categories you are interested in and you will be taken to the listings. You can also register from here to place ads. To sign-up click the 'Sign-up Now' link in the Account Area, or the 'Register' link at the bottom of the page and you will be taken to the registration page (see below).

Searching Classified Ads

Click “Classified Ads” in the main menu bar to search the Classified section . A Quick Search and an Advanced Search are available. Either click the specific categories you are interested or Key in your search word, e.g. “books” and all listings with this word will appear in the search results. If you wish to see all listings, leave the keyword field empty. You can tick the checkbox “Include Business Directory” or 'Include Property'. to include them in the results. Click on the title of any Ad to view the complete details of the ad, including photos, video, map, contact info.(See picture below).

Searching Property and Business Directory Ads

To search the Property or the Business Directory, click the respective tab in the main menu bar. Again, a Quick Search and an Advanced Search are available. Key in your search word and any other search fields you require,  to view listings. Click the title of the Ad to see the details, photos, video, map, contact info, etc.

You can register as either “Member” or “Business”. Business accounts are for professionals and businesses. Member accounts are for private individuals only. Property ads can be placed by both Business and Member accounts. Please do not place business ads in the classifieds section. We will request that you change your account. In cases of abuse your ad will be removed. Important: An email will be sent to you with a link to confirm your registration. If you do not receive this email check your junk mail folder. You have to click the link in the confirmation email before you can log-in. Please edit your  email settings to allow email from Portugalclassified.com. Once you have confirmed your registration, the system will allow you to login and place ads.

Login

Login is required to access your account.  In 'My Account' you can manage your profile and password, navigate and edit your listings, review messages, manage favourites and more. Please familiarize yourself with all the functions.

Renew Password

If you have forgetten your password, you can request a new one by clicking the 'Remind me' link. This will only work with confirmed accounts. If your account has not been confirmed you will not be able to request a new password. If your account is confirmed your new password will be sent to you by email. Check your junk mail if you do not receive the new password email.

Editing Ads from Account Area

From the account area at the top right hand corner of most pages. You can add listings and edit listings you have already placed.
'My Classified Ads,' 'My Property Ads' and 'My Business Directory' links to any ads you have placed in those sections. If you click one of these links, your ads wiill appear in list view. You can edit your ads using the small icons below each listing.




Messaging and Chat

'My Messages' takes you to the messaging area where you can read and reply to messages, you can also live chat with sellers who are logged in.
'My Profile' contains your personal details. You can edit the details at any time, change your photo, logo, update your email address, etc. You cannot edit your username.
'Favourites' allows you to save and show ads you have an interest in.
'Saved Search' allows to you recieve email notifications of items that match your search by email whenever such items are newly listed.

Contacting Advertisers

You must be registered to contact advertisers through the messaging system. To contact an advertiser click the “Contact Info” tab in the ad details view. Click “Send Message” and type your message in the text area. The seller will receive your message through the messaging system and via email. If the advertiser is logged on at the same time, the system allows you to chat. After the first message is recieved click show chat. You can also engage in multiple chats by switching between your different chats. You can delete messages and chats by ticking the delete box beside each message or chat . This operation cannot be undone, so take care you only delete the unwanted messages!

Tell a Friend

You can advise a friend about any listing using the “Tell a Friend” form. You will see the tab for this is in the ad details view of any ad.

Report this Ad

If an ad appears to be inappropriate to its category, abusive or offensive, or in any other way a matter of concern, please  let us know by clicking the little red icon beside the ad. You can also use the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of the page.

Post ad

To Post an ad click on “Post Ad” in the main menu bar or by clicking  “Add Listing” in 'My Account'. You will find three options: Classifieds, Business Directory and Property Ads. You can expand these by clicking to view the  categories. Choose the most suitable category, decide which listing plan you want and complete the listing details.
Should you not find a suitable category, the system allows you to submit a temporary category. This will have to be approved by the administrator before it becomes permanent, but you can still place your ad. You will receive an email of as soon as the site managers have approved the new category. If the new category is not approved you will be notified. Please note: Your ad may be moved from the temporary category to the most appropriate alternative category.
Complete your ad details and make sure you complete the required fields, If you want your listing to have a Google map, a very useful feature in Portugal, ensure the country and postcode fields are entered. You can upload images, video, or even documentation, such as your C.V. or catalogue for other users to download. Please note: Only the documentation file types .MS Word, .RTF and .PDF will be accepted by the system. For more details about photo and file uploads, see below.

Upload Photos

Click on the Browse button to choose the images you want to upload. You can upload multiple photos by clicking add field. The maximum is five at one time. General rules for images, please don't upload very large files, it may take a long time to process or be rejected. Small images will pixiliate when resized to full view. The ideal  standard rectangular image size is 340 pixels wide by 450 pixels high. If your images images are at least 340 pixels wide they will not lose clarity or pixillate. Most common image types are accepted by the system. You can also add images after your ad has been listed by clicking the edit photos or camera icon below your ad listings in the account area.

Upload 'You-Tube' Video

First you need to upload your video to a 'You-Tube' account. Then you can copy and paste the embed-code into the video field for your listing. Make sure to select a frame and player size before you copy the embed code from You-Tube, otherwise the video may not work.

Payment

If you have chosen a paid listing plan, the Paypal gateway will allow you to pay by Paypal or Credit Card. Your ad will go live on the site when paid for. If you do not complete the payment process your ad will still appear in 'My Listings' and you can pay for it by clicking the 'Ad Plan' icon under the ad in the list. A few days before your ad expires you will receive an email with a link to the renewal page for the ad.
