Frequently Asked Questions

The tiny house movement (also known as the "small house movement") is a description for the architectural and social movement that advocates living simply in small homes. There is currently no set definition of what constitutes a tiny house; however, a residential structure under 500 square feet (46  m2) is generally accepted to be a tiny home.

Tiny Houses-Homes are about living simply, beautifully and with everything you need. It’s about freedom from debt and having the economic freedom to live a bigger life, instead of having a bigger house.

There a are a whole slew of reasons why we want to live in smaller spaces. Most people will point to three motivations: Environmental impact, financial reasons and life simplification.

There are also many who look at the current true cost of homes today and question the wisdom in purchasing such a large investment that is seen as a debtors prison. Finally, living in a Tiny House allows you to bring focus and intentionality to your life, allowing you to focus on what is important in your life.

If a tiny house is built on a trailer it typically falls into the category of ‘moveable’ and building codes don’t normally apply. But it is best to build to standard building codes to make the tiny house strong, comfortable and well insulated.

Yes and no.  It depends on the house, there are many people who live in Tiny Houses who have all the creature comforts of modern society.  At the same time, there are those who bring in their own water, use composting toilets, and capture their power from the sun.  Many call this “off the grid”

Many people setup their homes with grey water tanks like an RV but if you are living in one place setting up a grey water system seems ideal. If you have access to a sewer system and have the proper plumbing your waste water can go there just like a conventional home.

This depends on the size, model and finishing work but normally you have to count 6-8 weeks construction work as soon as the materials are available.

Average prices are very different depending on country, design, size, materials etc. The price for a standard 6.5m long, 3.20m high and 2.45m wide Cosy Casa Tiny House is 11,820 EUR excl. VAT. This includes a 3 ton fully galvanised trailer ready to build on (4000 EUR) and wind-and waterproof high quality materials, insulation ( cork) as well as water and electric connections.

When the trailers are homologated and matriculated in their country, it can be pulled by a truck or van who may/can pull 3 to 3.5 ton on the road. Or it can be transported on a trailer for the public road to their place of destiny.

Without matriculation the tiny houses can not go on the public road and “the wheels” are only used for static use, legal purpose and move or turn the tiny house on the hostland.

Tinyhouseportugal takes care of transport and delivery. Our team will also set the tiny house up at its 'place to be'...
